Principal Back reiterates important information about the Test to Stay program and absence procedures; reminds families about the October School Lunch Survey; shares reminders about the many Greenwood and district happenings this week; and shares invitations from the Wakefield Education Foundation and the Wakefield Human Rights Commission/Wakefield Alliance Against Violence.

Volunteers are needed for Greenwood’s fall BOKS session, which will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 5-28th. BOKS is a free, before-school, fitness program designed to give kids a body and brain boost that will set them up for a day of learning. Registration for the BOKS program will begin Monday, September 27th.
Principal Back shares important information about arrival and dismissal procedures, including the “rolling arrival” that will begin this Monday; provides the schedule for the Virtual Back to School Night on 9/21; announces that K9 Samy will be at morning arrival this Wednesday!; and gives some communication and and health reminders.
At a PTO meeting earlier this spring, Greenwood Parents Emily Levine and Leah Cristi proposed using the PTO’s Library Fund towards an existing effort to bolster the Greenwood Library's current book collection with more diverse literature. Their proposal was quickly and enthusiastically approved, and Emily and Leah moved forward with their planning by consulting with Mrs. Buckley, our Greenwood School Library Media Specialist, to create a wishlist that will give our kids access to books that explore a wide range of life experiences, from race and culture, to neurodiversity and mental health, to world religions and family life.
Before they order books, Emily and Leah are seeking input from both Greenwood teachers and families—we’d love to hear from you! Please take a moment to complete our brief survey below before June 11th to guide our ordering.
Principal Back reminds families that there is no school Wednesday 5/19 and that the optional class placement survey is due; reiterates safety protocols regarding the back parking lot and dogs on school property; shares a message from WEF about this year’s Celebration of Learning; and includes a reminders of end-of-year dates.
Raffles will be open until 5pm on Sunday, May 23rd. Drawings will take place the evening of May 23rd and will be announced on the Greenwood PTO Facebook page and on our website.
