Dear Greenwood Families,
Happy Monday! It feels like September went by in the blink of an eye - that must be because things are just busy, busy, busy in our classrooms and other learning spaces! Every day is a new adventure, which is just the way we like it around here. :-)
“Test & Stay” Program Signup
This blurb was in last week’s message, however, I feel it’s important to share it once again. The Test & Stay Program allows students who have had close contact while at school with someone who tested positive to remain in school, if not showing symptoms. As mentioned previously, you must give consent in advance if you want your child to be able to participate. Children who are not signed up ahead of time and who are close contacts with someone at school will have to follow quarantine guidelines. If you have not yet signed your child up for this program, please follow the link in this letter to do so. Any questions can be directed to me or to our school nurse, Mary Doherty.
Student Absences - Greenwood Safety Line
As part of our attendance procedures each day, we need to reconcile any student absences with notifications received from families. If you are keeping your child home from school, it is very important that you call the Safety Line at 781-245-6646 unless we have previous documentation that lets us know your child will be out. When a child is not in school and we have not heard from the family, Ms. Paiva must make a follow-up call to verify. It’s all about making sure everyone is safe!
October Lunch Survey
The survey for October 4-15 was sent out to families last Wednesday via School Messenger. If you did not receive it, please check your spam folder and then reach out to Ms. Paiva if it’s not there. We are trying to streamline our process to make sure we have the number of lunches needed on hand, while cutting down on duplicate entries. Thanks for your patience and support with this!

Safe Routes to School - Wednesday, October 6th
Greenwood already has a lot of students who walk, ride, or roll to school each day, and this upcoming Wednesday is a day to celebrate that! We will have music, stickers, and a giant poster for students to sign when they arrive at school on Wednesday morning. We’re also hoping for a special guest - just waiting for confirmation!
Greenwood Picture Day - Thursday, October 7th
On Thursday, O’Connor Studios will be at Greenwood to take individual student photos, class photos, and the 4th grade group photo. Please note: the 4th grade photo will be at 8:45am. Any group photos are being taken outside, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed for good weather!
Wakefield Educational Foundation - Virtual Open House
Would you like to learn more about what WEF does for the Wakefield Public Schools? Interested in volunteer opportunities? WEF will host a brief virtual open house on Wednesday, October 13th for any community members who would like to hear more. Please see this flyer for more information.

The Wakefield Human Rights Commission and Wakefield Alliance Against Violence are co-sponsoring a Training Active Bystanders (TAB) workshop for residents of the Wakefield area on October 6, 2021. Please check out this flyer for more information and for a registration link.
