Dear Greenwood Families,
Happy Monday! The weather this weekend didn’t start off looking very promising, but it shaped up nicely. Now let’s hope it holds for us through the week so we can continue to enjoy getting outside for snack and recess as much as possible! Everyone at Greenwood is still busy practicing routines and building classroom communities, as well as diving into a lot of new learning. Every day is a new adventure!
School Lunches
Miss Mary has been serving a LOT of lunches to hungry Gators this past week. Pizza Day on Friday was the clear winner, with about 2/3 of our students receiving school lunch that day. With that background, you can see that it’s extremely important for us to know as far ahead of time as possible if your child is planning to have school lunch on a given day. If something has changed since you filled out the September Lunch Survey, or if you would like to sign your child up for lunch, please email Ms. Paiva to let her know. (For a new lunch signup, we ask for at least 48 hours notice to the greatest extent possible.)
We will be sending out the October survey in the next issue of Gator Tales. (Friday, October 1st was included in the September survey.)
Early Release - Wednesday, September 22nd
Our first early release day for students will be on Wednesday, September 22nd. All students will be dismissed at 11:55am in order for WPS staff to have professional development in the afternoon. Please note: there will be a scheduled lunch block for students prior to dismissal.
Greenwood Virtual Back to School Night
Greenwood’s Virtual Curriculum Night will be held on Tuesday, September 21st from 6:15-8:00pm, according to the schedule outlined below. The goal of the evening is to provide families with a chance to hear a grade-level curriculum overview, learn about classroom routines and procedures, and have an opportunity to ask general questions.
Here is an overview of the evening’s schedule:
I will host an “opening session” from 6:15-6:30pm to welcome families and provide general information about Greenwood. The Greenwood PTO will also share important information during this time. There will be a repeat session from 7:15-7:30pm for families who are unable to attend at 6:15pm.
Classroom teachers will host a 30-minute live Zoom sessions to do a grade-level curriculum overview and answer questions. Some grades may choose to present together during this time.
6:30-7:00pm - 3rd & 4th grades
7:00-7:30pm - Kindergarten
7:30-8:00pm - 1st & 2nd grades
“Drop-in sessions” via Zoom will be available for families who may want to touch base with or ask questions of non-classroom staff members. These will not be full presentations, but simply a chance to connect with our specialists and service providers. There will be one group scheduled from 6:45-7:15pm, and the other from 7:15-7:45pm.
A master document with all Zoom links will be sent out at 7:00am on Tuesday, September 22nd. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
