AuthorFest is thrilled to welcome Wakefield’s own, Sarah Lynne Reul, who will be visiting Greenwood’s Kindergarten and 1st grade students on Thursday, March 9th!
Sarah is an illustrator, writer and award-winning 2D animator who likes science, bright colors, tiny things, drawing on photos and figuring out how things work.
After a number of years in science museum education and non-profit administration, Sarah went back to school to learn the magic of making drawings come to life. She earned an MFA in 2D Animation from the Academy of Art University and her thesis film, “The Search for the Monster of Lake Quannapowitt”, won Best Animation for Kids at Animation Block Party 2015. Sarah’s goal is to “pack all the dynamic energy of animation into each of my illustrations.”
Sarah grew up in Brooklyn, but now lives in Wakefield with her husband, two girls, two cats and one dog.
Sarah wrote and illustrated The Breaking News (Roaring Brook/Macmillan), Allie All Along (Sterling), Pet the Pets, Farm the Farm (both from Little Simon/Simon & Schuster), NERP! (Sterling) and Bubbie & Rivka’s Best Ever Challah (So Far!), coming in Fall 2022 from Abrams.
Sarah has also created five murals for the Museum of Science in Boston (one over 16 feet long!) and has participated in #the100dayproject on Instagram four times – twice completing #100daysofdrawingonphotos, creating 80+ days of #100daysofmakingtinythings, and recently working on #100daysofusingschoolstuff.
