Dear Greenwood Families,
Happy Monday! We thought the big story last Friday was going to be the extreme cold…little did we know! Thanks to WPS Facilities Director Tim O’Brien and the Wakefield Department of Public Works, Greenwood is back up and running. Whew! We have too much going on to have to take another unexpected day!
All-School Meeting DATE CHANGE
Since we didn’t have school on Friday, some very important rehearsals did not get to take place. We want our 3rd graders to host their All-School Meeting with confidence and pride, so we’re going to move the date to Monday, February 27th for their hosting duties). This shift also means that the March All-School Meeting, hosted by 2nd grade, will now take place on Monday, March 20th. Thank you for your understanding!
WPS & Reading Family Math Night
The WPS Math/STEM Curriculum Coordinators are excited to announce plans for a Family Math Night in collaboration with Reading Public Schools. It will take place on Wednesday, February 8th, 6:30-8pm at Birch Meadow School in Reading. The night will have an overview and a debrief hosted by Reading and Wakefield coordinators and the chance for families to participate in an authentic IM lesson hosted by Reading and Wakefield teachers. We will be supporting grades K-5 during this night and have plans to include 6th grade during our March date (TBD) that will be hosted in Wakefield. Please see the linked flyer for more details.
Lost & Found
If your child is missing a sweatshirt, jacket, hat, or other piece of apparel, please feel free to drop by and check out the bin. Items that have not been claimed by the Friday before February break will be donated.
WPS Biweekly Community Zoom Meeting
WPS district administration will continue to host weekly community Zoom meetings as an opportunity to provide updates, highlight the good work that is happening in the district, and also hear questions and feedback from families. The next Zoom call will be on Thursday, February 9th from 4:00-5:00pm. Here is the Zoom link to join:
Meeting ID: 853 3883 6385

Health Updates
As you are likely aware, Massachusetts has experienced an uptick in reported cases of COVID, Flu, and RSV. This may result in some families and staff members choosing to wear masks during the school day. We want to reaffirm that each individual’s choice in this matter is respected and encourage everyone to do what makes sense for their family.
Lunchroom Volunteers
Thank you to everyone who has given us some of your valuable time over the past few weeks! Updated time slots are being added at the current link and go through the end of February.
Do you have any free time between 12:00-1:15pm on school days? Or 10:30-11:50am on early release days? Looking for a way to help out at Greenwood? We are finally bringing back lunchroom volunteer opportunities! If you’d like to come in and help support students while they’re eating lunch, please see the linked Sign-Up Genius to select time slots over the next two weeks. Single days, multiple days, one time slot, the whole lunch block…we welcome any and all helpers!
As an FYI, as we begin to implement the food rescue/composting program, we will be incorporating our lunchroom volunteers into this work. Don’t worry…it’s easy!
NOTE: You will need to have a CORI form completed before coming in for any lunch shifts - please contact Ms. Paiva about the process or to check if you have a current one on file
