From the Principal: 4/29/19

Dear Greenwood Families,

My letter this week might make it seem like there’s not as much going on as there was last week, but that is far from the truth! It seems crazy to think that we are looking at the month of May already - the year is just zipping by! We seem to have been in a bit of a rainy pattern of late, but that’s April for you. Just keep reminding yourself...April showers bring May flowers! And we all know what May flowers bring, right? (If not, ask the 3rd graders.)

MCAS

Thank you to everyone for your flexibility and support while our 3rd and 4th graders took the English Language Arts MCAS on Thursday and Friday. The kids taking the tests worked VERY hard, and it was clear that all grade levels were being respectful and mindful while walking through the hallways and moving around the building. Some 2nd graders even sent up a note of encouragement and support to 4th grade! While we have a few makeup sessions to schedule, we are basically now off MCAS duty until May 21st & 22nd.

Book Fair

Hopefully you got the information on Friday (and saw it in Gator Tales before that!) about the Spring BOGO Scholastic Book Fair hosted by the Greenwood PTO. It will be held on Tuesday, April 30 from 2:45 - 6:00 p.m, and then will run both before and after school on Wednesday, May 1, from 7:00 to 8:45 a.m. and 2:45 to 6:00 p.m. We appreciate all of your support!

Social Media Safety, Awareness, and Responsibility

The Wakefield Public Schools is pleased to welcome speaker Robert Hackenson to present about the topic of “Social Media Safety, Awareness, and Responsibility: How parents can help their children navigate the world of social media” on Thursday May 9, 2019 at Galvin Middle School. This event will begin at 7:00pm in the Learning Commons. Speaker Hackenson will present to Galvin students during the day, and then speak to adults in the evening. We know the world of social media can be a tricky one for kids to navigate. Don't miss it! http://dynamicinfluence.com/

Thank you for everything you do to support your children and their learning!
