Dear Greenwood Families,
Welcome back! It seems hard to believe that we’re coming back from April break and heading into what really is the final push to the end of the school year. Hopefully everyone had the chance to kick back and relax a bit, because there is a LOT going on between now and school day #180! I’m now at the point where when somebody mentions a date on the calendar, I think to myself, “That date sounds familiar…what’s been scheduled for that day?” I’m sure most of you can relate! We’re looking forward to getting right back into the swing of things, with many Cultural Arts programs, various field trips, special events, and a whole lot of learning and growing!
Outdoor Classroom Area
Thank you so much to Sara Carpenter and her crew of mulch-spreading volunteers for sprucing up the back corner of the garden area and preparing it for the next steps in developing an outdoor classroom. It never ceases to amaze me how much our families do to make Greenwood even better!
Early Release Day
Just a reminder that Tuesday, 4/23 is an early release day for students due to voting at the Galvin. Lunch will be served at school before we dismiss at 11:55am.
WMHS Peer Leaders Visit Greenwood
On Wednesday, April 24th, the Peer Leaders from Wakefield High School will spend the day here at Greenwood! They will be visiting Grade 3 & 4 classrooms to do presentations on the topic of bullying prevention throughout the morning, but they will also spend time with students during lunch and recess at all grade levels. So don’t be surprised if you hear about some “big kids” visiting that day!
MCAS
This is the week! 3rd and 4th graders will be taking the English/Language Arts MCAS assessment on Thursday, 4/25 and Friday, 4/26. Our students have been working hard all year long and are ready to tackle this task to show what they know. We are confident that everyone will do their best reading, thinking, and writing!
All-School Meeting Reminder
Our 3rd graders will be hosting the next All-School Meeting on Monday, April 29th at 9:00am. We can’t wait to hear from them!
Social Media Safety, Awareness, and Responsibility
The Wakefield Public Schools is pleased to welcome speaker Robert Hackenson to present about the topic of “Social Media Safety, Awareness, and Responsibility: How parents can help their children navigate the world of social media” on Thursday May 9, 2019 at Galvin Middle School. This event will begin at 7:00pm in the Learning Commons. Speaker Hackenson will present to Galvin students during the day, and then speak to adults in the evening. We know the world of social media can be a tricky one for kids to navigate. Don't miss it!
Thank you for everything you do to support your children and their learning!
