Dear Greenwood Families,
Happy Monday! With only two-and-a-half school days left until the December break, we are swinging into extra-super-high gear to wrap up lessons, units, and many other other loose ends before we head out the (virtual) door. Of course, there will be some fun activities as well! I know that everyone is ready to have some time off from regular school routines. My hope for you over the break is simply that everyone gets to spend time relaxing and doing things that make you happy. It’s time for us to wrap up 2020 and welcome 2021 with big smiles and open arms!
Elementary Schedule - Scaling Back Hybrid to Remote
As you read in the WPS Superintendent’s update on Friday, all schools in Wakefield will be in a remote learning model for the short week before December break, 12/21-12/23. This schedule was shared out last week before the remote learning snow day, but we wanted to have it readily available for you this week as well.
SLIGHT UPDATE - Early Release Day - December 23rd
Wednesday, December 23rd is an early release day, which means an adjustment to the schedule to ensure that both AM and PM cohorts have an opportunity to see their teachers that day. We will use the same format that we did on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving:
Because we are using the scaled-back remote learning schedule, AM & PM cohorts will attend Morning Meeting together from 8:15-8:45am on Wednesday, December 23rd. (This is for the hybrid model - full remote will receive a separate communication)
Students will have asynchronous work to complete during the morning.
There will be no specialist classes this day.
The elementary school day ends at 11:30am.
Spirit Days - 12/21 & 12/22
Just because we’re learning remotely doesn’t mean we can’t show our Greenwood spirit remotely! We have two spirit days planned to usher us into the break:
Monday - Countdown to 2021 on 12/21...our 4th graders thought this would be very appropriate! Teachers will have different activities to “ring in the new year” with their classes...and yes, we will even have an actual countdown!
Tuesday - School-wide Pajama Day...because who doesn’t love to be cozy? I will definitely be wearing pajamas in my office!

Technology Update
Just a reminder that all devices at home (Chromebooks, Ipads, etc.) need to be using the latest software to ensure they work properly with Clever and all the other applications we are using. Please note: the district will be migrating to an expanded version of Lexia Core5 that includes 21 levels and brand new activities. However, this new version will not be compatible with outdated software. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you need a district device to use at home.

Technology Support
Please email the WPS Tech Department at technology@wpsk12.org if your child is in need of technology support while at home.
December Break
We will be off for December break from 12/24/2020 through 1/1/2021. Buildings will be open limited hours during this time period, so please call or email if you require assistance. School resumes on Monday, January 4, 2021.
