From the Principal: 1/4/21

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy New Year!  I hope that everyone’s time off was relaxing and refreshing, and that everyone is staying healthy and safe.  Even though the changeover to 2021 doesn’t magically fix everything, it still feels good to put 2020 into the rearview mirror and focus on moving forward with our teaching and learning.  We have a lot of great things ahead of us!

Return to Hybrid Schedule - 1/4/21

As you saw in the Superintendent’s letter on 12/30/2020, all Wakefield schools are returning to school in their hybrid model on Monday, 1/4/21.  Here is the schedule for that model, as a reminder.  Students in the full remote model will continue with their usual schedule.

ICYMI - Grab & Go Lunch Survey for January

We sent out the signups for December and January at the same time, so most students who usually pick up a lunch are already signed up for January.  However, if you didn’t sign your child up yet and would like them to get lunches during January, please fill out the survey.

Literacy Updates (Repeat from 12/21 letter)

Technology Update

Just a reminder that all devices at home (Chromebooks, iPads, etc.) need to be using the latest software to ensure they work properly with Clever and all the other applications we are using.  Please note: the district will be migrating to an expanded version of Lexia Core5 that includes 21 levels and brand new activities. However, this new version will not be compatible with outdated software. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you need a district device to use at home.

Assessment Update

Please see the attached letter regarding a new literacy assessment we will be using in grades K-4. Lexia Rapid Family Letter

Health Reminder

As we dive into the next part of our school year, we are reminding everyone to support us in our efforts to keep everyone safe by practicing and promoting safety precautions, which include hand hygiene, mask-wearing, social distancing, and avoiding group gatherings and travel to high-risk states where the rates of transmission are high. We are also asking for you to keep children home if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever of 100.0 or higher, and/or chills

  •  Cough (not due to other known cause such as chronic cough, asthma, allergies)

  •  Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Headache when in combination with other symptoms

  • Muscle aches or body aches

  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

  • Fatigue when in combination with other symptoms

  • Nasal congestion or runny nose when in combination with other symptoms and not due to other known  causes such as allergies

  • Unusual rash when in combination with other symptoms
