Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend, especially when we finally got some sunshine peeking out on Monday afternoon. While it felt a little strange to be watching the Boston Marathon in October, it was great to see the race back in action! And now it’s time for Greenwood to be back in action for another week!
Illustrative Mathematics Family Sessions - Recording & Slides
Thank you to families who were able to attend the Illustrative Mathematics (IM) Family Introduction Sessions this week. We had a great turnout with over 100 families in attendance! We plan to have more sessions throughout the year and will communicate information about those through our principal newsletters. October Lunch Survey
Keep an eye out! The survey for the second half of October will be sent out directly to families via School Messenger on Tuesday afternoon.
Summer Reading Books
If your child received a “take-home bag” of black & white books from Mrs. Holland, our reading specialist, to enjoy over the summer, it’s time for those books to return to Greenwood! Please send them in with your child as soon as you are able to do so. Thanks!
Wakefield Academy Enrichment Program Enrollment
Wakefield Academy is so happy to be announcing our Fall Enrichment Program is now open for enrollment! Our fantastic program providers are back to offer your children the best enrichment opportunities! Please use the link below to check out the Enrichment programs available at your child’s school. There is truly something for everyone! We do have a few Wednesday programs so please be sure to check the program dates. Our Enrichment begins the week of October 18th so join us now! Enrollment closes on October 13th. Galvin families, our clubs will be open for enrollment soon!
Just a reminder, you will need to complete the google form enrollment and payment for your child to be enrolled. You will receive a google form receipt showing your child's choices. Also, if you use Unipay you will receive a payment confirmation email from them (this does not confirm your child's enrollment, only that a payment has been made). If you do not receive these emails, please reach out to us so we can confirm your child’s successful enrollment. Reminder! If payment is not received before classes begin, we cannot guarantee your child will have a space.

On Thursday, October 14th, from 6 - 8 p.m., the Wakefield Human Rights Commission (WHRC) will commemorate Hispanic Heritage month with a celebratory program of music and dance. Please see the linked flyer for more details about the event and the evening’s performers!

Thank you for supporting us in our efforts to keep everyone safe by practicing and promoting safety precautions, which include hand hygiene and mask-wearing according to current guidelines. We continue to ask you to keep children home if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:
Fever of 100.0 or higher, chills, or shaking chills
Cough (not due to other known cause such as chronic cough, asthma, allergies)
Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
New loss of taste or smell
Muscle aches or body aches
Sore throat, when in combination with other symptoms
Headache, when in combination with other symptoms
Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, when in combination with other symptoms
Fatigue, when in combination with other symptoms
Nasal congestion or runny nose (not due to other known causes, such as allergies) when in combination with other symptoms
Our school nurse, Mrs. Doherty, is always happy to answer any questions you may have or provide clarification.
