Dear Greenwood Families,
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a chance to do something fun over the weekend! Fall is my favorite season - I’ll take all the crisp air, changing leaves, candy corn, and apple-cider donuts that come my way. We’re also into that part of the fall where things are really humming around the building. Everywhere you look there are students and teachers deeply engaged in learning, and also having fun together. You just can’t beat that!
Early Release - Wednesday, October 20th
Our next early release day for students will be on Wednesday, October 20th. All students will be dismissed at 11:55am in order for WPS staff to have professional development in the afternoon. Please note: there is a scheduled lunch block for students prior to dismissal.
“Fun Fall Friday”
Let’s have some Greenwood fun to wrap up the month of October! On Friday, October 29th, students can celebrate by dressing up in some wacky way, which could involve wearing a costume, or simply just sporting some crazy hair, mismatched clothes, or a fun hat.
Dress-up guidelines for during the school day:
Must be school-appropriate (both for costume theme and ability to do schoolwork in it)
No props or accessories
No full-face masks
We will bring our day to a close with the return of the K-2 costume parade! Students will follow a route out the back door, around a loop of the blacktop, come around the Kindergarten side of the building, and go back in the front door to pick up backpacks, etc. before being dismissed. The parade will begin at 2:30pm, and families are invited to gather outside (viewing areas will be designated) to share in the fun. More information regarding the parade will be communicated as needed by your child’s classroom teacher.
