Dear Greenwood Families,
Happy Monday! It looks like we have a rainy week ahead of us, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that things will improve by the time the end of the week rolls around. It’s worked for us a couple of times so far!
Conferences
I know everyone is looking forward to connecting with teachers and talking about how the school year is going so far! Our first date for conferences is on Wednesday, November 3rd, which is an early release day for students with opportunities for both afternoon and evening conferences for families. More information about additional dates/times for conferences will be available later this week, after which teachers will be sending out sign-up forms.
November Lunch Survey
Keep an eye out! The survey for the first two weeks of November, along with the November lunch menu, will be sent out directly to families via School Messenger on Tuesday afternoon.
“Fun Fall Friday”
Let’s have some Greenwood fun to wrap up the month of October! On Friday, October 29th, students can celebrate by dressing up in some wacky way, which could involve wearing a costume, or simply just sporting some crazy hair, mismatched clothes, or a fun hat.
Dress-up guidelines for during the school day:
Must be school-appropriate (both for costume theme and ability to do schoolwork in it)
No props or accessories
No full-face masks
We will bring our day to a close with the return of the K-2 costume parade! Students will follow a route out the back door, around a loop of the blacktop, come around the Kindergarten side of the building, and go back in the front door to pick up backpacks, etc. before being dismissed. The parade will begin at 2:30pm, and families are invited to gather outside (viewing areas will be designated) to share in the fun. Obviously our ability to hold the parade will be dependent on the weather, and we will let families know in as timely a manner as possible if we have to cancel.
STEM Challenge - FAA Airport Design
One of our Greenwood families forwarded me this information about a design challenge sponsored by the Federal Aviation Administration. The Airport Design Challenge is a seven-week interactive, learning and collaboration opportunity for K-12 students that begins on November 15, 2021. To learn more, check out the challenge website.
