UPDATE: Governor Baker has announced that all Massachusetts schools will be closed until at least April 6th.
Principal Back’s March 13th email message:
Dear Greenwood Families,
By now, you have received Superintendent Lyons’ notification that all WPS schools will be closed for two weeks, through Friday, March 27, 2020. This includes all classes, meetings, events, and activities. Students throughout the district will be provided with Learn Anywhere activities and assignments from their teachers during this time. The hope is that we can provide students with some sense of normalcy by focusing some of their time on schoolwork, keeping them connected to their teachers, and trying to keep their learning continuous. The district anticipates that all school buildings will reopen on Monday, March 30, 2020, however, the closure may be extended based on the guidance of state and local leaders and public health officials.
Please note the following:
School buildings will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday (3/16) and Tuesday (3/17) if staff or students/families need to access the buildings to retrieve materials or personal belongings that may be needed while school is closed. I will be in the building during these hours to provide any support for families. Students must be accompanied by an adult. Please use common sense and do not enter the building if you are ill. If you do enter, please make this visit quick and avoid touching surfaces within the building as much as possible.
Learn Anywhere: Earlier in the year, all teachers reviewed with students how they can access their Learn Anywhere work as needed. If there are questions about a particular assignment or you have any technology issues, please contact your child’s classroom teacher. Specialists and administrators are also available by email during this time to provide students additional support as needed.
No assignments or work will be due on the first day back from school. We want to make sure that students are able to access the help and support of our teachers and paraprofessionals when they return to the building in order to finish and submit their work.
If your child has prescription medications that you need to retrieve, please contact our school nurse, Mrs. Doherty, via email to make arrangements for a Monday or Tuesday pick up.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any additional needs or concerns. I want to thank you again for your patience, understanding, and support during this challenging and uncertain time. We look forward to seeing all of our Greenwood Gators back together once again!
Thanks,
Tiffany
