Dear Greenwood Families,
Happy Tuesday! Greenwood was a hopping place last Wednesday afternoon and evening with so many families streaming into the school building to connect with teachers face-to-face. We all love to talk about kids, and we know how important is is for families and teachers to work together for students to learn and grow throughout the year! We have one more “official” conference block this Wednesday afternoon, but please reach out any time if you have questions or concerns about your child. We are all better when we work together!
Early Release—Wednesday 11/13
Wednesday, November 13th is an early release day for our students. Lunch will be served at school before we dismiss at 11:55am.
Learn Anywhere Elementary “Dry Run”
Even though this will be the last year of the snow day aspect of Wakefield’s Learn Anywhere program, we want to make sure we’re prepared if we need it! (For those new to the district, you can read about Learn Anywhere here.) Our dry run will be in the form of a homework assignment on Wednesday, November 20th in order to determine if students/families are able to access teacher assignments effectively. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions.
Greenwood Family Folk Dance Night!
Greenwood School will be hosting Family Folk Dance Night on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 from 6:00-7:00pm in the school gym. All community members are welcome! Bring the whole family for a fun evening of live music and folk dancing led by Wakefield elementary music teachers Mrs. Brighenti, Ms. Schwartz, and Mr. Zini. Join us in learning dances from around the world appropriate for all ages and abilities! Any family member, school faculty member, or friend who feels comfortable playing an instrument is welcome to participate in the live music—sign up here to be a part of the music. (I played my flute last year, and I plan to do so again this year!) Admission is FREE, and a snack of popcorn and apple cider will be provided at the conclusion of the evening. All children must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. Hope to see you there!
Front Driveway at Dismissal
Due to safety concerns for pedestrians, as well as for the various buses and after-school vans that need easy access to the front doors, we are closing the front circular driveway to regular vehicles directly before and during dismissal. Anyone picking up should park on the street and walk to the side or back of the building to meet your child. Thank you for your cooperation with this!
Thank you for everything you do to support your children and their learning - let’s have a great week!
