From the Principal: Sept 17

Dear Greenwood Families,

Our first 6-day cycle is in the books, and we’ve even finished the first day of the next cycle! If there was any doubt before, we now know that Greenwood School is fully back in business. I hope your family took time over the weekend to rest, relax, and recharge for another busy week of learning!

Back to School Night:

Greenwood’s Back-to-School Night will be held on Tuesday, September 25th. This is an opportunity for the adults to come and meet the classroom teachers and specialists and to learn about classroom expectations and grade level curriculum. Below is the schedule. The staggered time periods are in place for those families who have children in both the upper and lower grade levels:

  • 6:30 - 6:45 – Welcome remarks & Staff Introductions (gym)

  • 6:45 - 7:20 – Grades K-2 – parents report to classrooms

  • 6:45 - 7:20 – Specialists meet with grade 3 & 4 parents (gym)

  • 7:25 - 8:00 – Grades 3 & 4 – parents report to classrooms

  • 7:25 - 8:00 -- Specialists meet with grade K-2 parents

We look forward to seeing you on the evening of September 25th!

First Fire Drill Practice:

On Friday morning, we successfully completed our first school wide fire drill evacuation. Students safely, quickly, and quietly exited the building and gathered at their designated locations outside in a timely manner. Fire drills are an opportunity for students to practice leaving the building while listening to the loud fire alarm to ensure that they know what to expect in case of an emergency. We will continue to practice throughout the year so that students and staff feel prepared if there were to be an emergency that required us to evacuate the building.

Communication:

We can’t answer your questions if we don’t know what they are! All staff e-mail addresses are listed on the “Staff Directory” section of the Greenwood School website if you need to reach out to your child’s teacher about a question or concern. Time-sensitive messages during the school day should be directed to the office, as teachers have limited time to access e-mail while students are in the building.

Thank you for everything you do to support your children’s learning both inside and outside of school!

Let’s have a great week,

Tiffany Back
