From the Principal: Dec 10

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy Monday! It has been a real treat to have sunny weather this week, even if there’s a bit of a chill in the air. I feel like everyone walks around with a little more spring in their step, and I see more smiles on faces. Greenwood is such a positive, happy community anyway...this is just the icing on the cake!

Holiday Hat Stroll

Thank you to all of the Greenwood families who represented at the Wakefield Holiday Hat Stroll on December 1st! Not only did we have a number of Gators marching behind the school banner, but there were Greenwood folks to be found in many of the other town groups who participated in the parade. It was a fun afternoon event!

New England Percussion Ensemble

Students and staff at Greenwood were treated to a rousing performance by the New England Percussion Ensemble on Friday morning. We learned about various types of percussion instruments, discovered how “found items” can be used to make music, and even had a little sing-along! Many thanks to the PTO for supporting these Cultural Arts performances here at Greenwood!

Arrival Safety

Our crossing guards work very hard to ensure the safety of our students as they arrive at school in the morning, and it is incumbent upon our entire community to be respectful of and responsive to their directions. While I know that mornings are a busy time and many people are in a hurry, it is concerning to hear that there have been unkind comments directed at our crossing guards for asking people to wait to step into the street or to slow down while driving through the crosswalk area. The crossing guards work diligently to manage the flow of both people and traffic efficiently and safely - let’s be sure we are supporting them in this important work!

Early Release Day

Just a reminder that Wednesday, 12/12 is an early release day for our students. Lunch will be served at school before we dismiss at 11:55am.

Electronics Policy - “Smart” Watches

With the holidays fast approaching, this is a good time to remind families about the information in the Elementary Student Handbook regarding smart watches. Just like cell phones, smart watches must be turned off when students enter the school and kept in backpacks during the day. Thank you for your attention to this!

Thank you for everything you do to support your children and their learning!
