From the Principal: Oct 22

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy Monday! I guess we’ve reached that time of year where we can stop complaining about the heat and start complaining about the cold…? Life in New England! On another nature-related note, your children may have mentioned (or you may have seen) that two new trees have been planted on our Greenwood playground! We are so happy to have these October Glory Maples in place and look forward to watching them grow!

Dismissal

Just a reminder that scheduled dismissal times are “end of instruction” times for classroom teachers. That means there is teaching still going on until 2:45pm on regular dismissal days/11:55am on early release days, and that your children might take a couple of minutes after that to actually make it outside. Thanks for your understanding!

4th Grade Student Council

I met with our 4th grade students on Friday to talk about one of their many leadership opportunities this year - 4th Grade Student Council. Any 4th grader who is interested in applying must write an essay outlining their interest and the positive qualities they will bring to the Council. This group will help bring student voices into the conversation about building Greenwood community spirit. Essays are due to classroom teachers no later than Friday, November 2nd - more details can be found in the letter sent home with your 4th grader. K-3 families...your turn will come!

Halloween Parade

On Wednesday, October 31st, our students in grades K-2 will participate in a Halloween parade around the outside of school at 2:15pm. Families are welcome to drop by and see the fun!

Bus Safety

The kids did a wonderful job completing our school evacuation drill last week! To continue our theme of October Safety Month, students will practice bus safety on the morning of Tuesday, October 23rd in order to be prepared for any school field trips during the year. For this drill, the bus parks next to the school and students practice getting on the bus, learn about how to sit and ride safely, and practice exiting the bus. Just in case you’re wondering...the bus doesn’t go anywhere during this practice!

Thank you for everything you do to support your children’s learning!
