The PTO is sponsoring Curious Kids Lynnfield at the Greenwood School the weeks of May 22 and May 29. Curious Kids will engage the kindergarten, first, and second grade classrooms with an engineering lesson using recyclables and loose parts, such as straws, corks, and more. Many thanks to the families who have continued to send materials in for use during these classes. We appreciate it very much!
During each of these “makers and tinkers” sessions, work will focus on a specific concept found in the Massachusetts Frameworks for Science and Technology/Engineering. Children will work independently and in pairs to practice critical thinking and collaboration skills to address a given challenge. They will be asked to create with given parts, engage in the planning and design processes of engineering, and explore physics concepts such as balance and stability through their work.
Projects will vary from grade to grade, and newsletters will be sent home that detail specific work and areas of focus. The PTO is very excited to sponsor a new program and hope the students will have some fun with physics.
