From the Principal: 11/8/21

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy Monday!  I know that many conferences took place this past week - if you haven’t had the chance to meet with your child’s teacher yet, we will have our second round on November 17th.  We appreciate everyone taking the time to schedule an appointment and talk about how things are going in school for your child(ren).  The more we share between home and school, the better we are able to support both academic and social growth.  And besides...we all just like to talk about kids!

No School Thursday

All WPS buildings will be closed on Thursday, November 11th in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.

November Lunch Survey

It’s already that time!  The lunch survey for the remainder of November will be sent out directly to families via School Messenger on Tuesday afternoon.

Resources for Parents

Mrs. Beardslee, our Greenwood School Psychologist, along with the other members of the WPS Social Support Staff, want to share a website curated by William James College that contains a number of resources for parents.  There are many different topics represented, with additional links to recommended podcasts, educational websites, and virtual experiences.  Please check it out!

MWRA Poster Contest

The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority is pleased to announce its annual poster/writing contest!  This year students are being asked to use their creative skills to design a poster and/or write an essay, poem or story explaining the importance of a clean Boston Harbor and what it means to them. The MWRA chose this topic as it aligns nicely with the kick-off of the 25th Anniversary of the Boston Harbor Islands National Parks and the 50th Anniversary of the Boston Harbor Islands State Parks. The anniversary celebration runs from November 2021 through November 2022.

You can find all the necessary forms, the flyer announcing the contest, and eligibility rules and requirements associated with the contest on the School Program page at: https://www.mwra.com/annual/contest/2022/pre/contestmain.htm. If you would like a contest packet mailed to you, please email danielle.diruzza@mwra.com.

The contest deadline is Wednesday, March 16, 2022. Early entries are encouraged and can be sent at any time. All entries must be mailed to:

MWRA School Contest

Please feel free to email the organizers at meg.tabacsko@mwra.com or danielle.diruzza@mwra.com if you have any questions or need additional information.
