Dear Greenwood Families,
Happy Tuesday! I hope that everyone enjoyed their long weekend, even though the weather wasn’t being terribly cooperative for taking part in outdoor fun. I certainly was glad we didn’t have to have an “indoor recess” day on Monday though!
WPS Superintendent’s Message - Updated WPS Guidance
On Wednesday, January 12th, WPS sent out a communication to all families about updates to COVID-related notifications. Something that may have been unclear and that is very important for everyone to know is that we are still doing contact tracing when there is a positive case identified in school. The update is that families of vaccinated close contacts will no longer receive a direct notification from the school nurses. This district-wide change was made in order for nurses to be able to prioritize and manage the work that needs to be done within schools each day. Moving forward, only families of unvaccinated close contacts will receive information about Test & Stay or quarantine protocols from Mrs. Doherty.
That being said, in order to help ensure that families continue to monitor ALL students, whether vaccinated or not, for symptoms, elementary principals will send out a letter to all families in a classroom if a positive case was identified and resulted in close contacts in school. Families of students who are unvaccinated close contacts will also hear directly from Mrs. Doherty.
As has been said a number of times, guidance and procedures are continually changing. Our district administration, school principals, and our extremely hardworking school nurses regularly meet to review and update what we're doing in order to keep schools open, safe, running smoothly, and a place children want to be. We are very appreciative of everything our Greenwood families are doing to help us with this work!

Anxiety Resources for Children and Families
Last Tuesday at the Greenwood PTO Meeting, School Psychologist Jenny Beardslee shared helpful information and resources for children and families about anxiety. Whether you were able to join us and listen to her speak or not, we wanted to share the resources and remind everyone that Mrs. Beardslee is always available to help support our students and families in a variety of ways.
