Happy Monday! Okay, all of those other weeks that I’ve said are “so busy”? I think this last one blew by them all! We all know that the months of May and June bring many special, fun events to Greenwood and we’re determined to enjoy each and every one of them. Let the good times roll! (Don’t worry…there’s still plenty of learning going on.)
From Wakefield Academy - WoW Summer Academic Program
It’s not too late to sign your child up for the WoW Academic Camp! At the WoW Rising 1st through 6th Academic Camp, your elementary child or middle schooler will not even realize that they are learning as they enjoy being with their friends, making new ones, and participating in the solid WPS curriculum that our certified teachers will be provided in a summer fun style. This includes our famous hands-on science program created by Wicked Cool Science just for the Wakefield Academy Academic Camp! Join us now!
Grades 3 & 4 - MCAS Testing Coming Up
One more round! MCAS testing for Math in grades 3 & 4 will take place on Monday, May 22nd and Tuesday, May 23rd. Testing begins at the start of the school day. The recommended testing time for each session is 90 minutes, but students will have as much time as they need to complete the test. Children who are absent or significantly tardy on the day of testing will take that day’s session during a makeup time on a different day. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions.
Food Rescue Program - Volunteer Drivers Needed
Our lunchtime composting and food rescue programs are going strong! However, we could use some help in getting the food donations picked up at Greenwood and delivered to the designated locations in Wakefield, Stoneham, or Melrose. Lunchroom Volunteers
Thank you to everyone who has given us some of your valuable time over the past few weeks! Updated time slots are being added at the current link and now go through THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR!
Do you have any free time between 12:00-1:15pm on school days? Or 10:30-11:50am on early release days? Looking for a way to help out at Greenwood? We are finally bringing back lunchroom volunteer opportunities! If you’d like to come in and help support students while they’re eating lunch, please see the linked Sign-Up Genius to select time slots over the next two weeks. Single days, multiple days, one time slot, the whole lunch block…we welcome any and all helpers!
As an FYI, we will be incorporating our lunchroom volunteers into the food rescue/composting program work. Don’t worry…it’s easy!
NOTE: You will need to have a CORI form completed before coming in for any lunch shifts - please contact Ms. Paiva about the process or to check if you have a current one on file
