From the Principal: 4/3/23

Dear Greenwood Families,

Happy Monday!  There was no way I was going to write this newsletter ahead of time because I wanted to have the most accurate information possible about the Gator Gallop!  It was great to see that the rainy weather couldn’t stop our Gators from showing up to run on Saturday morning.  Thank you so much to the Greenwood PTO Gator Gallop Committee and all the volunteers who kept smiling throughout!

Class T-Shirts - Please Return!

We do still have some all-school events coming up, so we’d like to have the student class t-shirts returned to school as soon as you have a chance to do so.  Thanks!

Wakefield Visual & Performing Arts Day (VPAD)

On Wednesday, April 5th, Galvin Middle School will host ALL of the elementary schools (on a rotating schedule) for an art tour and high school musical performance.  All Greenwood students and staff will be taking buses to the Galvin together as a school for this “in-town field trip.”  There will be an art walk beginning in the main Galvin corridor, winding through the library, and culminating in the hallway outside the auditorium.  Students will then enter to watch the HS performing arts department amaze everyone with their talent!

Buses will pick up at Greenwood at 8:45am.  Please make sure your child is at school on time!  We will return to Greenwood around 10:30am.

Grade 4 Ukulele Concert - Monday, April 10th

4th grade families should have already received information from Mrs. Brighenti about the upcoming ukulele concert on Monday, April 10th at 9:00am.  We invite 4th grade families to join us for this much-anticipated performance!  Your balcony seating awaits!

Food Rescue Program - Volunteer Drivers Needed

Our lunchtime composting and food rescue programs are going strong!  However, we could use some help in getting the food donations picked up at Greenwood and delivered to the designated locations in Wakefield, Stoneham, or Melrose.  Food pickup can be done anytime after 1:30pm on a selected date.  Please visit the link below for more information and to sign up.  Thanks in advance!

Lunchroom Volunteers

Thank you to everyone who has given us some of your valuable time over the past few weeks!  Updated time slots are being added at the current link and now go through the end of April.

Do you have any free time between 12:00-1:15pm on school days?  Or 10:30-11:50am on early release days?  Looking for a way to help out at Greenwood?  We are finally bringing back lunchroom volunteer opportunities!  If you’d like to come in and help support students while they’re eating lunch, please see the linked Sign-Up Genius to select time slots over the next two weeks.  Single days, multiple days, one time slot, the whole lunch block…we welcome any and all helpers!

As an FYI, we will be incorporating our lunchroom volunteers into the food rescue/composting program work.  Don’t worry…it’s easy!

NOTE: You will need to have a CORI form completed before coming in for any lunch shifts - please contact Ms. Paiva about the process or to check if you have a current one on file
