Dear Greenwood Families,
Happy Monday and happy April! Can it be possible that there are only two weeks before April break begins? The thing that makes it even more unbelievable is how jam-packed with events our calendars are between now and then!
Wakefield Visual & Performing Arts Day (VPAD) - Tuesday, April 2nd
On Tuesday, Galvin Middle School will host ALL of the elementary schools (on a rotating schedule) for an art tour and high school musical performance. All Greenwood students and staff will be taking buses to the Galvin together as a school for this “in-town field trip.” There will be an art walk beginning in the main Galvin corridor, winding through the library, and culminating in the hallway outside the auditorium.
Students will then enter to watch the HS performing arts department amaze everyone with their talent! Buses will pick up at Greenwood at 8:45am. Please make sure your child is at school on time! We will return to Greenwood around 10:30am.
Early Release - Wednesday, April 3rd
Our next early release day for students is on Wednesday, April 3rd. All students will be dismissed at 11:55 am in order for WPS staff to have professional development sessions in the afternoon. Please note: there will be a scheduled lunch block for students prior to dismissal.
Greenwood Family Folk Dance Night - This Thursday!
On Thursday, April 4th at 6:00 pm, families will have the chance to learn and participate in various dances from different cultures, accompanied by live music performed by the teachers and any willing community volunteers. After a fun hour of dancing, snacks will be provided by the Wakefield Music Boosters. Come and join us!
Gator Gallop - This Saturday!
We are so excited for the Gator Gallop on Saturday, April 6th! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for good weather, although everyone has a great time no matter what! Check out the website for more information. See you there!
April 8th Solar Eclipse Information
Joanne Marks, the WPS Science Curriculum Coordinator for grades 5-12, shared a few informational links for families about the upcoming solar eclipse.

Lunchroom Volunteers
Thank you to all of the fantastically-dedicated volunteers who have been making lunchtime a little brighter! You are so greatly appreciated!!
Do you have any free time between 12:00-1:10 pm on school days? Or 10:30-11:50 am on regular early release days? Looking for a way to help out at Greenwood? Then join us for our lunchroom volunteer opportunities! If you’d like to come in and help support students while they’re eating lunch, please see the linked Sign-Up Genius to select time slots through the end of April. Single days, multiple days, one timeslot, the whole lunch block...we welcome any and all helpers!
Lunchroom volunteers will help students with those tricky thermoses, hand out napkins and utensils, support students while they sort items into composting/food rescue/trash, and help clean tables at the end of each lunch. Oh, and the most important thing - bring smiles and laughter!
NOTE: You will need to have a CORI form completed before coming in for any lunch shifts - please contact Ms. Paiva about the process or to check if you have a current one on file
Greenwood School Social Media
We are on Facebook and Instagram, and one of my personal goals this year is to show off the fun we’re having throughout Greenwood! Check us out - @wpsgreenwood on both Instagram and Facebook!
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with questions.
Thank you for everything you do to support your children and their learning! Let’s have a great week!
