Gator Gallop Student Pledge Drive

The Gator Gallop 5K and Kids' 1-Mile Fun Run is not only an amazing community event with entertainment, raffles, and vendors, it’s also the Greenwood School’s main fundraiser. We are so excited for our 10th annual Gator Gallop on Saturday, April 1st!

The event’s proceeds enable the PTO to continue to fund cultural arts and enrichment programming, AuthorFest, Science Fair, the community garden, library book donations, field-trip stipends, and many other programs throughout the school year. We are also donating 10 percent of our proceeds to the Wakefield Educational Foundation (WEF), encouraging engagement with the larger Wakefield community.

Student Pledge Drive

Greenwood School students support the school and earn their Gallop race entries via the student pledge drive. The online pledge page is open, and info packets came home last week. Students use the pledge form to collect cash/check and online pledges from family, friends and neighbors. Share this link with your social network! There are incentives and prizes along the way that include race entry and awesome items, like a cool Wakefield Warriors drawstring bag!

  • March 1: Student pledge drive begins.

  • March 10: Deadline to turn in the minimum $25 in pledges (cash/checks/PayPal) to earn a free Gator Gallop race shirt, but the online pledge page will remain open through April 1st for the contest!

  • March 10: Soft deadline for student race registration through the online Student Race Registration/Waiver Form

  • April 1: Gator Gallop! (online pledge payments close)
    See the day's schedule here.

  • April-June: Final pledge tallies are completed and students receive their incentives and prizes.

Can the whole family run?
Absolutely! Whether you’re competitive and love that the race is chip-timed by RaceWire, or you’d prefer to walk as a family with a stroller, there’s something for everyone. Adults and non-Greenwood children who want to run the 5K can visit www.gatorgallop.com to register via RaceWire. (Remember, Greenwood students register for the event via the pledge drive--not through RaceWire.) Register by March 11th and snag a free race shirt!

Running is not my thing…
You need not trek around the lake to enjoy the Gator Gallop. The event area will be full of activity--music, the Gallop Raffle & Silent Auction, and vendor tables. If you’d like to help out, view all the volunteer roles that need to be filled.

I’m not sure my child can complete the run
Kids run the 1-Mile Fun Run with their peers and selected adult volunteers who maintain order along the way. Not all kids run the full lap, but supervisors ensure they all make it back to the finish line safely. They are met with Greenwood staff and cheering spectators at the finish line.
