Dear Greenwood Families,
Happy Monday! This is going to be a busy week! Not only is it the week before February break, but we also have the 100th Day of School today AND Valentine’s Day on Friday! Since this is the last newsletter you’ll receive from me before we go on break, I want to wish all of you a wonderful week off. We’ll expect to see lots of well-rested faces back here on February 24th!
Early Release—Wednesday 2/12
Wednesday, February 12th is an early release day for our students. Lunch will be served at school before we dismiss at 11:55am.
Spare Change Drive
It’s on! Please dig up that spare change to help with the 4th Grade Fundraiser for earthquake relief efforts in Puerto Rico. We will collect donations from Monday, February 10th through Friday, February 14th and donate all funds raised to All Hands and Hearts - Smart Response to support their Puerto Rico rebuilding work. The Greenwood PTO will even match up to $227 in donations! Each classroom has a collection jar, and members of the Fourth Grade Leadership Team will be monitoring the process throughout the week. Please let me know if you have any questions!
PTO Meeting Guest Speaker
Valerie Drinan, the new Elementary STEM Coordinator here in Wakefield, will join us at the PTO meeting on Tuesday, February 11th at 7:00pm in the Greenwood Library. Valerie will share information about her brand-new role and some of the work she’s been doing with teachers so far this school year. I look forward to seeing you there!
Report Cards
Report cards will be viewable by families on iParent on Friday, February 14th. The Report Card Parent/Guardian Letter can be found at this link. Directions on how to access your child’s report card can be found here. Please note that the report card standards are for the whole school year, and that a standard on the report card that has not been formally assessed at this point in the year may show as N/A (not applicable). Let the office know if you are having difficulty getting to the report card - if you have other questions, reach out to your child’s teacher. We’re all working together to help kids learn and grow!
WEF Adult Spelling Bee
The Wakefield Educational Foundation is looking for adults to participate in a Team-Based Spelling Bee on Friday, February 28th. The Spelling Bee starts at 7:30pm and will be held at the Wakefield Elks Lodge. The cost is $25 per individual - you can sign up as part of a team (6-10 members) or register as an individual and be placed on a team. It should be a fun evening that raises money for great programs in our schools!
Thank you for everything you do to support your children and their learning—let’s have a great week!
