Help Bring BOKS to Greenwood

We would like to run a 4-6 pilot at Greenwood, beginning May 1. We NEED a lead volunteer and a couple assistants to run this pilot, for 40 minutes, 2 x week, in the morning just before school starts. BOKS provides a completely free robust curriculum: All you have to do is lead the children through it with energy!!

With success of the pilot, we hope to have the program in place at Greenwood in the Fall.

BOKS (Build Our Kids’ Success), an initiative of the Reebok Foundation, is a free before-school physical activity program aimed to get children moving in the morning and their brains ready for a day of learning. This program is running quite successfully at the Galvin Middle School and will soon be piloting at the Walton.

All BOKS classes focus on a functional fitness skill of the week (ex. squat, push up, plank) and follow the same format including team-orientated games. The lesson ends with a short nutritional talk to provide kids with the tools to make smart healthy food choices. The BOKS curriculum provides children a safe, fun environment to practice skills through play, while building confidence and developing lifelong healthy habits.
