From the Principal

Dear Parents,

Many thanks to the families that participated in our drive to support victims of Hurricane Matthew in Haiti. Your generosity was amazing!

Conferences will be held Wednesday November 9th, Wednesday November 16th (both Wednesdays will be early release days for students), and evening conferences from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17th. This is your opportunity to learn how your children are progressing toward grade level standards and to ask any questions you may have for the classroom teachers.  We value a parent’s perspective of their children and want this to be a partnership and welcome your insights about your children as part of the conference.

All specialists are available for conferences as well.

  •     PE - Patrick Hennessey 11/9/16 - 12:30 - 3:15
  •     Art - Amy Drago - 11/9/16 - 12:30 - 3:15
  •     Music - Caitlin Brighenti - 11/16 (12:30 - 3:15) & 11/17 (5:00 - 7:00 p.m.)
  •     Technology - Debra Duggan - 11/9/16 - 11/17/16 - 5:00-5:45 p.m.

As you know, we are moving to an online report card format and as of this week we have only 40% of our families registered in iParent. iParent is our student system that will house all your child’s report card information. Please go to the Wakefield Public School website to register  https://ipassweb.harrisschool.solutions/school/wakefield/pamregister.html. It is important to us that all families are registered and have access to student data.  We will also have Donna Cushman from our technology department available to help parents during conferences on Wednesday, November 9th from 12:00 - 3:15 pm and again during evening conferences on Thursday, November 17th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm  It is quick and easy so stop by and see Donna if you would like assistance registering!

I hope you will join us at the PTO meeting Tuesday, November 8th at 7:00 p.m.  I will be sharing information regarding the revised standards-based report card with families.  We will discuss the reasons for the change to our report card, how we selected the standards to report out to families, and I will answer any questions parents may have about the report card/standards-based grading.

Have a great week!

Regards,
Deb Collura
