Update 11/22: 2020 Thanksgiving Food Drive Results
As we look forward to celebrating Thanksgiving this week, we are grateful for the generous spirit of the Greenwood School community. Our Thanksgiving Food Drive for the Wakefield Food Pantry collected 319 items to create holiday meals for those in need.
On drop off at the food pantry, we were able to fill two shopping carts and a large four-wheeled dolly. Terry, the wonderful volunteer who helped us coordinate the drive, said, “that’s a lot!”—noting that it was especially so given the unusual school year.
Total donations included 47 jars of gravy, 26 packages of stuffing, 18 boxes of potatoes, 16 boxes of quick bread mix, 44 boxes of pasta and pasta meals, 20 boxes of rice and rice meals, 26 cans of green beans, 15 cans of corn, 32 cans of soup, 13 boxes of brownie mix, 3 packages of cookie mix, and 18 boxes of mac n’ cheese, plus 41 assorted other nonperishables.
Thank you, Gators, for your generosity to our neighbors in need!
The Greenwood School PTO is collecting nonperishable food for the Wakefield Food Pantry to distribute to local residents for Thanksgiving dinner. Each grade is assigned a specific food in greatest need by the organization.
Should you wish to participate, please send your item in your child's backpack any time from Monday, October 19 through Friday, October 30.
