No School: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

There is no school on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

The Wakefield Human Rights Commission is holding a town celebration in honor of Dr. King at the Galvin Middle School from 10:00-11:00am.  The theme this year is “Anybody Can Serve.” This year’s keynote speaker is Milly Arbaje-Thomas, CEO of METCO, Inc.  In addition to artwork, music, poetry, and speakers, the Commission will also present its 3rd annual MLK Service awards to 3 recipients — a Wakefield youth, adult and business/organization who have made a difference in the Wakefield Community.  After the event, there will be a service project opportunity to put together cold-weather care packages.  It will be a great event!
