Want to try foods and see dances from different parts of the world? Want to learn about other countries from our Wakefield students? Then join us for the third annual International Night on Friday, April 7, 2017, from 6 - 8 PM at the Galvin Middle School.
Sponsored by the Wakefield Public Schools and the METCO program, we will celebrate diversity in Wakefield, sample foods, and meet families from around the world. The evening will include a parade of heritage wear, dancing to the rhythms of Puerto Rico, and the opportunity to speak with high school and middle school students about the countries they are studying in their world language classes.
The Wakefield Public Schools prides itself in the ethnically diverse landscape that represents our nation. Its core value of respecting and caring for all students demonstrates the schools' commitment to all families. Next month, the Wakefield community will be celebrating multiculturalism. Why celebrate? Because we value differences, because it brings us together in solidarity, because we are all human despite our differences, because we learn from one another and w create new friendships, and because we need to coexist with one another.
This family-friendly event is open to the entire community.
